Gear Stick All The Way over To The Left

Gear Stick All The Way over To The Left
Hi folks, I was looking at a 99 Disco today and took it for a drive. I'm not sure if this is normal but the gear stick was all the way over to the left when in neutral, which felt strange cause it feels like a mile away to get into 5th. Does anyone know if this is normal or something to stay away from. Thanks.
