Default General D2 Questions

I have a few simple questions that don't really deserve their own thread so I'll throw them all up here.

1. Is there a D2 specific procedure for changing the battery? A Google search turns up some conflicting info. Also in past Rovers I have used a group 65 battery. Is that still possible in the D2?

2. Has anyone come up with a repair/mod for the suede on the door panels? Mine is worn on the drivers side and I'd like to repair but not sure how involved it may be.

3. Will a D1 rear pinion flange/drive shaft work to eliminate the rotoflex?

4. Mine has rear air suspension. Will I need any sort of electronic module (like the P38 needs) so my dash lights aren't going crazy
when I replace the bags with coils?
I appreciate the help guys. Thanks

For 1, a 65 fits perfect as long as you've got something for it to sit up about half an inch on. It will fit as is, but you'll have to stretch the ground. I'm running an Autocraft AGM 65 and love it.

As for 3, yes you can but you'll need a new pinion flange either off of a front diff or Lucky 8 sells a rotoflex conversion kit which is just the pinion flange I believe.

1. Yeah, use the battery spec'd for the Td5, which I think is the 34 that drowssap mentioned.

2. The S model from 2003 and 2004 didn't have suede and had a woven canvas like material there instead. You could probably replace the suede with anything else. Maybe even find a seat that's got a whole in it (in the junk yard) and buy the leather from it?

3. Yes, but some years of D1 have a rotoflex. Also there might be some differences in stud length or bolt length. Maybe. Not sure. But people do it all the time.

4. The D2 can be reprogrammed to think it's got coils if you convert to them. I've done it with hawkeye and nanocom. The p38a requires the fancy box because it never came with just coils.

1. No big procedure. I walked into the store with the maximum measurements and bought the biggest CCA AGM that would fit in the hole, with the longest warrantee. Be sure to double check the polarity positions.

2. I looked at recovering mine when I had the door card off. Problem is that section is glued on, not screwed so it can't come off for an easy re-cover.

Not impossible with some really stretchy material for the corners and a sharp knife for trimming in, but not sure I will bother.

Going to look up the two cleaners mentioned.

My owner's manual specifies a Group 24 battery. Look in the Technical Data section at the back of the manual.

I once had a Group 34 installed but it was too short. I simply "shimmed" it by setting it on top of a 1x6. I think I bought it because it had a better cold cranking amps rating than the Group 24 of the same type.

Yea I know the spec but usually you can get more CCA w the larger battery.

If the battery of your choice fits in the space and held down properly go for it.

Yep I am looking into the Diehard Platinum 65 (P2) myself. It shows it at 7.1 inches tall vs the Group 34 at 7.8 inches. I think the negative should make that as the post are right on the corners vs in any.
