GMB 220-1100 U-Joints
Hey all, first post in a long time. Previous were regarding my D1, which is no longer with me. I was inspecting the rear propshaft on my newer D2 due to vibration and discovered one of the u-joints on the front shaft was pretty much gone. I do have the rear shaft conversion, just haven't installed it yet. Anyway, I ordered 3 GMB 220-1100 u-joints from RockAuto. The website stated that these would work on the front and rear shafts. Unfortunately, my ride was manufactured 5/2001, and does not have the ability to lock differential. Real pisser to see the location for the nipple, but nothing there, so forced to park it for a few days. When the u-joints arrived, I installed one on the front of the shaft and it was incredibly loose. Lots of side to side play. I measured the old joints and from trunnion end to trunnion end, measured 3". The new joints from RockAuto measured 2 3/4"!! I left that one installed and cleaned and re-installed the 2 good ones I had left. Fingers crossed it will last a week or so until I order a new front shaft. Needless to say, I filed a return request and have been refunded (very quickly, I will add).
So, just a note, if you're ordering the GMB 220-1100 U-Joints, they may be wrong!!
