Default Going to Springs!

I got my springs conversion kit from Arnott, and will be having my local mechanic replace my sagging airbags. He's not a LR mechanic. Is there anything he needs to know? What will he need to do "electronically" to disable anything related to the old suspension? Is it worth (gas millage, weight, etc) to pull off compressor and other related air suspension goodies?

thanks

There is a good write up on this in May's issue of Land Rover Enthuseist magazine.
You can remove the compressor and sell it on e-bay.
You will either need to the buy kit to turn off the SLS warning light or go to the dealer and they can turn it off for you with a ECU re-preprogram.
As for saving weight by removing whats not needed, you wont save enough lbs. to make any difference.
But those compressors are like $19,000 brand new, so check the pricing on used ones and you can recup some of your money.
EDIT:It may have been Land Rover World, I will have to check later today as whichever mag it is in my truck.

I do not know, check AtlanticBritish, but the dealer should do it for ~$100.
Only takes a few min but they are still going to charge you for a hour labor.

First, how mechanical are you, the conversion is pretty easy and letting a non Rover mechanic doe this is a waste of your money. Do it yourself and then go to a dealer to have the SLS shut down thru your ECU.
There is no advantage to removing the old parts unless you want to sell them, you might get $10 per switch and around $200 for the pump if it is good, which it may not be if it was the cause of your SLS replacement.
By the way, there is no kit available to shut this air system down, only for P38's.

Doesn't take much in the wau of tools, and most auto parts store rent the jack and stands you will need.

It is in May 2009 issue of Land Rover World.
A "how to" with pics and all.
Check Schulers and Barnes and Noble.

Default i like the how-to.... especially with pix

I'll check that out and renting some jacks and stands sounds like a good plan. I'd love to do it myself. Will keep you posted. Thanks again!
