Default Got My D2, have questions

Merry Christmas Everybody!

I am stoked, got my 2000 Disco! It has 95k miles, 2 owners, head gaskets have been done, overall seems to be in decent shape but a little neglected.

I plan on doing all the updates suggested here, but was messing around with it today and have some questions....

The rear tailgate door bottom check strap has nothing keeping it on (see pics), and the door if very stiff to open and close. Is some sort of washer supposed to be holding the strap down??

Also noticed a small hose(? vacuum line ?) along the drivers side firewall that is cut and goes nowhere. Could this be why my cruise control isnt working?

And one final thing.....There are Hella driving lights mounted on the front brush bar. They arent working! There is a button on the dash that I assume controls them, when I press it, the indicator light doesnt come on, and the switch does not lock in the on postion, just springs back.

Thanks in advance guys! This is a very helpful forum!

Andy

1. Download the set of factory shop and owners manuals, called the RAVE, for free, below.

2. The Hellas would require an interface relay. Normal front fogs will work with high beams on. Wiring diagram of the factory stuff is in the RAVE (circuits diagrams).

3. The hard line may also be a vent line to differential or transmission/transfer case.

Tail door check strap: I will have to get back to you tomorrow because mine is in the garage witht he door closed already and the wife would frown on me opening the garage door just to open my tail door and look.

Plastic hose on driver's side firewall: vent tube for front axle. The transfer case and transmission vent tubes come forward from the transmission tunnel and terminate on the passenger side of the rear of the engine.

Hella driving lights: Only operate when high beams are on, if wired OEM. If OEM, there should be a small relay box bolted to the rear (firewall side) of the underhood fuse box. There is a fuse in that relay box, also that relay box is known to have internal issues, requiring a rewire.

PS: Merry Christmas to you, also! and X2 on downloading the RAVE!

Thanks Lordmorpheus and S. Buzz for the replies!

I will check for the relay box and fuse....hopefully just a blown fuse!

Rear door hard to open or close, look under the door for a separated or rusty seam. Also lube up the door stop rail with white grease. you will see the rail through the cutout under the door.

Thanks S. Buzz that's exactly what I needed!

The obvious next question is how would I get ahold of the washer and circlip? Is there a part# to get it new?

Thanks!
