Driveshaft help
Have you never greased a u-joint before?
Have you ever had your front drive shaft replaced or rebuilt. There should be 1 grease fitting on each of the 3 u-joints of your front drive shaft, if not it needs to be rebuilt or replaced before it fails and takes out your tranny in the process.

Many owners who enjoy wading in the water like the synthetic green grease (not enviro friendly green, but really green). It is water resistant, used by farm machinery guys, etc.
Where you lube it depends on if you have rebuilt your front shaft yet. See our tech area and the write up on front prop shaft rebuild, an ungreased stock shaft can split and poke hole in transmission, $3500 - $7000 of fun you don't want. There are fittings on the rear shaft as well. See attached.

If the front prop shaft does not have the multiple grease fittings it hasn't been rebuilt. This is a under $100 parts job, you may want to do it or farm it out to a drive line shop or an indy mechanic. Be sure to review the tech sticky on this and print out for the shop if going that route. Does not give much warning when failing, some owners have gotten it covered by insurance (hit a pot hole dodging a possum, etc.). One recent poster had it blow on a road trip, had $3500 in repairs, plus car rental and flight back to get truck....
You do not sound very mechanical so I would suggest you find a shop, change out all four u-joints before one fails from lack of maintanence , they have then greased at least 2 times a year.
Once you get the front driveshaft built, yes, you will be able to grease the joints via a zerk fitting on the joint. Buy a grease gun that is compatible to a zerk fitting, grease the joint and you are done. The stock driveshaft is basically not serviceable due to the non existent zerk fitting on the u joints and as a result it needs to be rebuilt.
Any standard automotive grease will be fine... I use the Shell Retinax/Gaddus 220 grease but not easy to find. Napa usually carries the Valvoline Synthetic Moly grease and it is very high in quality. Color does not matter, it's just a dye. What matters is the complex (filler) the grease is made out of, the viscosity and additives in the grease. But for something like u-joints, there is not an industry standard.

This is what they're talking bout. I got real lucky. Mine let loose 4 weeks ago. No damage to transmission. Just had to be towed ( $ 265 ). Too much damage to be fitted with new
U joints. Had to buy rebuilt Front drive shaft. Go to " Sticky: Write Ups, How tos, ....."
under Drivetrain. 2 good write ups by Antman and Antichrist.

Any grease is better than no grease. Don't put off lubing it because you can't find the "perfect" grease. It needs to be lubed every 5,000 miles minimum so you'll use up a tube before long. Read this post: https://landroverforums.com/forum/ge...02/#post164811
