The Great Head Gasket Adventure
The assembly IS removed from the vehicle. The fedex guy just brought me the box from altantic british that has the new waterpump gasket in it so that I can put it back together. I run the assembly to the old guy at the machine shop this weekend and see if he can do anything to unf^ck it. But if I have enough beer in me before that I shall try the heating pad idea. At least the AB package had some other stuff in it that was useful to me right not; i.e. new wiper blades and rear wiper arm along with some random trim pieces I have been missing forever.
I am glad that I can amuse you guys as I pass along the pain of my rover repair

Motor mounts replaced along with the starter. Cleaned the IAC valve & passages now have a 750-800rpm idle @ start. Damn vacuum lines rotted all over. Too late for head liner or stereo installation but tomorrow is another day. The new air conditioned shop passed inspection today for occupancy, so this weekend instead of boat rides, I'll be moving my tools and bedroom to the new building while using the Discovery to pull the trailer with the goods. Cara on Sunday, life is grand!

i told you you are getting top ratings on this venture.. best show on television and you are not even on the network.....one of many to put you on the verge of rolling it off a cliff as that will be the most satisfaction you will ever get from the POS you have..I know as i think more and more how i can destroy it rather than enjoy it...

Thank god for beer and pizza...

Am I missing something simple here? I havent driven my rover in almost 18 months and I want to put fresh fuel in it before I start it, but I am unable to get the fuel door to open. I pushed the button on the dash while the key was in ignition (on position) and vehicle is in park and nothing happened. Btw, yes I hooked up the new battery and everything else seemed to have normal power (i.e. power windows and locks worked) Where do I start trouble shooting this and/or how can I manually release the latch on it?
thanks again to the brain trust for the answers to my stupid questions!

Sorry about that...i know the truth hurts.....occasionally..... now you are really cracking me up......
Just heard back from the old guy at the machine shop - no dice on dissassembly. Is there a way to take the viscous fan clutch off the fan perhaps? I just looked on AB and its like $300 for that stupid assembly! and that is IF I can cut the pulley in half to get the waterpump unhooked from it. Does anybody else ever have these kinds of things happen to them?!
