Talking

OMG!!!

What a story...(the doctors say I'll most likely walk again - fell outta my chair from not being able to breath due to laughing so damn hard).

The learning curve can be a little brutal at times, but we have all been there (including the DiscoArt dude) so I always so this is how memories are made!!!

Great thread - Ron

New fault code after another couple of hours of idling in the driveway to burn off old fuel.
P0440 purge valve not sealing.

Ok, what purge valve is it speaking of and how do I fix it? replace it, seal it up, or is it a function of old and dirty fuel getting burned off?

thanks guys!

While I am here I have another dumb question. (you guys getting tired of them yet?)
I biought this hose from BA and threw it in the rover with the rest of the parts for this job. When I got it out to install it I noticed that the little screw that goes in the T was missing. I turned the rover upside down and shook her out; no screw although I did find $4.28 in change. Anyway, how do I replace the damn thing?!

btw does this kinda **** happen to anybody else or just me?

There have been posts about that bleed screw, I believe BMW makes a brass screw that fits search around or just RTV in a larger stainless wood screw or something. On the purge valve I assume your gas cap is tight?

Replace your purge valve. I'm not sure but I believe there may be a cheaper alternative so search (maybe for hyundai). I'm assuming you don't have a leak at the fuel rail where the gas line clips on.

At the risk of sounding like an idiot; what is a purge valve and where is it located? I'm not at home where the RAVE manual is.

the RAVE manual mentions a purge valve that sits somewhere above the valve cover.
Which side is it on? Since it is one of the things that I disconnected and reconnected a half dozen times in the process of this adventure I will go out in this evening and see if it is a: hooked up at all and b: clean the connections for it and plug it back in.

Any other suggestions?

Is this the purge valve?

and yes the MAF is fairly new (it was new when the vehicle was parked)

ah ha! I found it! I feel very successful now and I was due for a success. Anyway, I will go out tonight and take it off the truck, clean it up, and reconnect it. I burnt off all the old fuel and it is still stalling out badly under any kind of acceleration. Its making me poopy to be this close to complete success and still not making it...

Also on those P0130 and P0150 codes don't do anything with your O2 sensors until your other codes are taken care of. Your O2 sensors could just be getting funky readings because of your fuel system problems.
