Default Hand Brake Cable

I am totally stumped by the hand brake cable. When I released it from the lever the mechanism attached to the button is now wedged in front of the hole and I cannot move it.

I have searched, but I can't seem to figure out how to move it so I can replace the cable?

Anyone have a way to do it?

When I released the handbrake cable the spring inverted. I removed the center console, and when the handbrake lever was straight up I was able to manipulate it.

I have it back in, but now the spring is not setting right so I am going to have to come up with some way to reset the spring it is not sitting correctly. So when you pull up the hand brake it is not clicking and reseting.

I found this and it seems to do a good job explaining the issue.

Handbrake, button sticking in

When I released the hand brake and the spring flipped over, somehow the mechanism was bent up hear the button. So, take off the button and use a needle nose pliers to bend it so it sits in the middle of the hole. That solved the issue totally for mine.
