Default Hand / Parking brake stuck down, light on

Hey all - first off, thanks to everyone in this community. I have been lurking a while and found many helpful answers.

Our '99 Disco 2 (V8) has a hand brake that is stuck down. It really won't budge at all. The 'BRAKE' light is on indicating that the thing is engaged. I know that you can adjust the the brake shoe underneath the vehicle but before I do that, I wanted to see if anyone has had a similar problem. The RAVE says the parking brake should be disengaged before adjusting the shoe and according to the light, it is engaged right now.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Check brake fluid as if you are low that light will be illuminated. On the stuck portion it's a simple mechanism so you're on the right track to look at RAVE and trace it down to the brake shoe.

I had my parking brake handle get stuck down and found it was lots coins that had somehow gotten into where it pivots and jammed it up solid.

I found just short of $10 of pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters in the center console under belly in my disco during the post purchase clean-up. I was shocked.
