Apparently, I wouldn't know a rod knock if it hit me over the head. After putting it all back together with rebuilt heads, it was knocking every bit as bad, taking off the oil pan revealed #8 rod had taken 1/2 off the crankshaft. So off to the local wrecking yard for a motor, swapped the new heads on it ( non SAI motor) and she's running like a top. Due to my poor diagnostic abilities, I basically did the head gasket job 3 times. It was an epic garage battle, but she runs very good now!
