Hard Start
Hi All- I have a '99 Series II. Noticing when the weather is really cold, the car is having a hard time turning over. Sputters, but doesn't catch. I can sit in the car for 10 minutes before it finally catches. Engine light isn't on and battery is showing full charge. Could it be the crank shaft? Any ideas?
First, how many miles on it, what octane are you burning and when was it last tuned along with new 8 mm wires?
Don't trust your battery light, go to your local parts store and have them test the charging system. You need to be between 13.6 and 14.4 volts at 2000 RPMs.

I always use premium and have 86,000 miles on the dash. Battery was tested and replaced two months ago. Will have it tested again. Alternator was also tested and was good (had that replaced last December). Plugs haven't been changed in 3 years and I'm wondering if that's the culprit. My mechanic pulled them in August when I had the Mass air flow changed and said they looked fine. Thanks for your input-just don't want to get stuck on a really cold night!
