Harman amplifier fried after plugging in wiring harness
Hey guys, so I'm not getting any sound out of my speakers in my 2000 Disco II. When I bought it a couple months ago, I found that fuse 17 under the steering wheel (the 15A for the audio system) was blown. After replacing it, I turned my key over and saw a lot of white smoke coming from my amp. I have the Harman amplifier. Figured the amp would be fried from that so I bought a new amp off ebay. Here I am, 2 months later, and I'm trying to tackle the audio issue. I rechecked the same fuse #17 today, and it was blown again. I forgot about the previous white smoke incident, so I swapped the fuse, and as I was plugging in the wiring harness to the old amp I heard a sizzling noise and saw that same white smoke. I wanted to consult the forum here before I swap in my new amp and potentially fry that one.
The old amp has a good bit of dirt on it, so I thought that could've been the issue, but again I don't really know. I also don't have the factory head unit. I have a Pioneer Mixtrax DEH-X2700UI. I bought the rover from a friend and he said everything worked fine until one day when music just stopped playing. Any suggestions on pins to check or reasons for the blown fuse? Any idea why the old amp is getting fried? I thought maybe my head unit could've been outputting too much power, but my friend said that it did work with this aftermarket one.
sounds like someone messed with the wiring to the amp before you got in there..... Test all leads for power and ground according to RAVE electrical color codes....
There is an aftermarket adapter for the head unit wiring to make life easier. Sounds like the auto antenna/amp on wire from head unit might be going to the wrong location...

If I'm going off of the assumption that my friend wasn't lying when he said the radio was previously working, wouldn't that mean it would be an issue other than incorrect wiring?
Oh let me also add a couple things: the electrical circuit wiring manual thing says something a wire going to the amp from the SLABS fuse in the main fuse box. I'll attach a screenshot of that. I don't have that fuse, but does that actually do anything to the amp? Also, I have that DVD/CD player under the passenger seat. If that isn't working, would that prevent my radio from playing music?
