Question Harmonic noise

my wife's 02 disco has a harmonic whine at highway speeds above 55 mph. When you let off the gas or coast down a hill with cruise on it goes away. Any ideas???

Check out the harmonic balancer on the rear differential. It might be missing or loose.

My money's on U-joints -- please check them asap as if the front goes, it'll take out your transmission.

I have had it for about 18 months and put about 22,000 miles on it with no problems. It has 103,000 on it right now.

If it aint the ujoints then look at the tc, change the fluid. If it comes out with metal then you are screwed. If not sometimes if it is old it makes a noise.
