head bolt torque?...
Been looking over the Rave and old posts in advance of doing a HG job in the next week or 2. Have a blown gasket exhaust side- sounds like I'm rolling around with an M2 under the hood. Anyway, for getting those hg bolts back on, Rave says tighten to 15 lb/ft, then turn 90, then turn 90. So, per the Rave- the head bolts torque to 15 lb/ft. Can't be. Have also seen 20, 40, 80 commonly suggested. What's the recommendation? ...

what torque setting did you use for the two 90 degree turns? I guess that's what I'm not clear on. Thanks!
No torque, use a breaker bar and physically turn each 90 degrees in proper sequence, then repeat for final 90 degrees. Just use torque for the initial 15 ft-lbs.
yeah, that light bulb just went on for me. Been reading so much about how important it is to hit torque values. Overlooked the obvious. All clear now- thanks!!
i just did mine a couple weeks ago. I had to do 45 degree intervals on mine. i did 90 degrees per bolt before i moved to the next one but i found it nearly impossible to make it a full 90 degrees in one go. so rough guess, some of my head bolts are anywhere from 190 degrees to 170, BUT i quickly learned that the yield point was obvious. at some point you could tell the torque no longer increased exponentially, it stayed linear. this point was really close to point that you would hit 180 degrees. after the second sequence on a couple bolts i got the feel of it and whether i hit 180 degrees or not i stopped when i felt the bolt yield.
