Head Gasket 02 Disco II
Ditto, until Rover comes out and says something different, it is still Dexcool, made by many manufactures, just change it every 2 years and as a plus, consider adding a bottle of Water Wetter or Royal Purple's Purple Ice for even better protection.
The car has 68k on it and has already had one head gasket job. The radiator, H2O pump were changed at the same time as the HG. It started to "overheated" (meaning it just got hot but didn't spike red and stay) and was taken back to the shop, being told that it was "clogged Radiator hoses....had all those replaced. Now the head gaskets have blown again. The coolant and oil have mixed, making it that yummy yellow snot color with a milkshake texture. Should I still run an engine flush with everything mixing. It has not been run since the HGs have blown. Where would you get those 8mm Magnacor wires? I am going to take it to a local shop that I have delt with before and do amazing work. THey actually ended up being the second choice after the first missed a 6in crack in a head I was having them look at. Anyway thank you Disco Mike for the advice.

You need to get all that mayonnaise out of your engine. It is going to be clogging your oil passage ways in your cylinder head and block. If I were you I would have my heads rebuilt and soaked in a solvent tank. Also drop your oil pan and clean out the bottom end as best you can. The best thing would be to remove the entire engine and take it down and soak everything in a solvent tank but then you would be better off buying a new rebuilt engine. If you have overheated your head probably need to be planed also make sure they use new head bolts.
If you don't rebuild or replace the engine make sure you do a few engine flushes to clean out your oil passages because if they are clogged you are going to be starving you top end of lubrication.

are you sure that you need a head gasket job? I had a chrysler that had a leak in the radiator that allowed the radiator fluid and the oil to mix, was a mess but wasn't engine caused.. Just a thought. best of luck. Phil
MIKE: I was also concerned about dropping a sleeve since the HG have already been replaced and since the coolant and oil are mixing. I haven't yet torn into it but should be starting either this weekend or next (10/17) at the latest.
Lipadj46: I'm not sure but since the Snot is on the dipstick I'm assuming it's throughout the entire engine.
yes that is not good. That motor is going to need a lot of work. Sounds like fun though (if it's not your daily driver that is and if you are the one wrenching and not paying).
As far as overheating and dropping a sleeve, it can happen but it sounds like you stopped right away. I would be more concerned with the snot oil and your engine not getting enough oil flow. Regardless you will see what you see when it gets torn open.
