Default Head gasket job

I got a quote for 1720 with the heads being machined.It is for a 99 disco 2.
Fair price?

We have seen break downs of $400 or so for parts, $200 - $300 for machine shop work, and about 12 labor hours. So seems in the range, for a Rover. To see what you are avoiding, look at recent posts with photos by Eric T. https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...-repair-43960/

A fair price especially if they are Rover mechanics and they guarantee their work.
Have you already replaced your wires, if not put some 8mm silicone wires on along with a new t/stat, coolant pressure cap, newer designed upper radiator hose and switch away from Dexcool going to one of the other, better yellow or green coolants like spike.
Also have them add a bottle of Water Wetter to the coolant system.
