If it came off in your hand, someone could have broken the bolt and used a dab of glue to make it look like the bolt was still good. I would probably take the head off and inspect everything. If everything seems to be working okay, I would get the broken bolt out. All of the bolts have to be replaced at this point anyway. Then I would just replace the gasket and put it back together. The only problem is that you will have to replace the bolts again if you have to pull it apart again. Whenever I do the head gaskets, I like to replace the intake manifold gasket also.

Did you get that snapped manifold bolt out?
You may be able to use vice grips.
Or even better
A snap-on tools stud removal socket..
Hopefully you can get that out.
When the head is off, you can try vice grips on that bolt.
I had an exhaust bolt snap off.
I had to put on two little pairs of vice grips to get it out.
One vice grip beside the other and pull hard.
Just keep going and get the head off.

Thanks. I am bit confused about the torquing sequence. I would like someone to correct me if I am wrong.
1.Initially, tighten bolts numbered 1, 4, 9 and
12 in numerical order to 5 Nm (4 lbf.ft).
2. Then tighten to 8 lbf.ft from bolt 1 to 12
3. then the final tighten to 38 lbf ft from bolt 1 to 12
Is this sequence described above correct or am I missing anything.
Also what type of sealant (brand) I should purchase ?

That is correct. I don't personally use the torque wrench for the 4 and 8 ft lbs, I just finger tighten, tighten with a ratchet until each one is touching the manifold, tighten until each bolt is snug, and then I use the torque wrench to tighten to 38 Ft Lbs.
I'm sure you already did it by now anyway.
