Default Quick head job question about intake mani

Just getting the motor back together after a head job and kinda confused on the placement of the intake manifold. Is gasket sealant needed on both sides of the intake manifold gasket or just the bottom of the gasket? Thanks

Please see attached page from RAVE. Will certainly need sealant in notches.

I use Right-Stuff on the end clamp seals and high-tack on both sides of the gasket proper.

Never had a come-back on one yet.

(scurries about looking for something to "touch wood")

Thanks. I am bit confused about the torquing sequence. I would like someone to correct me if I am wrong.
1.Initially, tighten bolts numbered 1, 4, 9 and
12 in numerical order to 5 Nm (4 lbf.ft).
2. Then tighten to 8 lbf.ft from bolt 1 to 12
3. then the final tighten to 38 lbf ft from bolt 1 to 12

Is this sequence described above correct or am I missing anything.

Also what type of sealant (brand) I should purchase?
