I finally got around to doing the hg on my 01 DII. Now I offically have right around $1500 in the vehicle. That includes the purchase price. It runs and drives good. Still need to fix the three amigos, but other then that I think I did good.

It took me maybe two hours to get it apart last sunday and maybe another six hours yesterday before I was driving it.

Eight hours total is not bad at all. It takes most people two full days and sometimes three to get the job done.

It was my second one and I've been turning wrenches for 17 yrs. I didn't think that the job was that big of a deal.

It's not....I mean...it's a pushrod motor.

The things with these trucks is that the typical poster doing this has never done anything more than change the oil on anything other than their LR. ANd good for them for getting an enthusiast vehicle and getting dirty and learning things, but this is why simple jobs on LR/Porsche/Name Your Enthusiast forum are made out to be epic 2-week ordeals.....the people doing them are not only doing THAT job for the first time, but often any job of that magnitude, so they lack basic skills like dealing with tough/stuck/stripped fasteners, parts management, job planning, generally make more work for themselves by goobering things up along the way, and have to stop check and panic each step of the way. And again, good on them for doing it. But the times are way off. And the forum "experts" espouse about how different/difficult/whatever their <LR/Jag/Porsche> is to work on than every other car ever made, but it's not.......
