Default Headlight assby and bulbs - 2003 Disco

Hi Gang,

I have a couple of questions:

I seem to be eating bulbs (the h7's) for the reg beams and the high beams at a fairly steady rate, like 1 every two months.... any ideas or suggestions as to why?

Number 2 - can you buy just the clear part of the headlight lens body?

I called my local rover specialist shop and of course each headlight unit for the left and right sides are worth $400 each - that seems like an expensive way to clean up the clear lens part since its just got the usual pitting and yellowing some cars get .....

I am trying that headlight lens restorer stuff but it is pretty slow going polishing the clear lensand it does look like it might come off the whole lens body - just wondering ....

Cheers'
Dave

Are you touching the bulbs on install? The glass part?

Oh heck no, even I know better than that ! (grin)

Naw, it's not right away just that in a year I'll replace like 8-10 bulbs and that's
a pretty even mix between left and right and low and high beams ....

I'm thinking over voltage but that's just crazy talk ?!!? Isn't it ?

Cheers'

Check your grounds. Fuses, relays, and voltage across battery with the vehicle running. Make sure connectors for bulbs aren't green.

Thanks for the tips guys - I'll check he connectors for corrosion and see what happens.

I took a buffer and some of that compound and they came up pretty decent too!

Make sure the previous owner didn't solve a problem with a short by bypassing the fuse/relay or by putting in a fuse/relay that is way too big.

Which compound did you use? I've got one lens on my '04 getting kinda cloudy. Thanks!
