Default Headlight/Wiper Switch Question

Hi,

I need to replace my headlight/wiper switch. I have a new switch and just need to put it in. Am I going to run into any problems where I have to unplug airbag wiring and then deal with the SRS light coming on? Should I disconnect the battery? Any input from someone who has done this would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Erick

You will need to disconnect the battery and you have to be real careful to not damage the spiral ring. On the down side of it all, you will end up with a SRS warning light on cause of the battery disconnect and that can only be cleared with a test book or autologic scanner.

BOOOOOOOO [:@]

That's not what I wanted to hear... but hey, I need wipers. So it looks like I'm off to my friendly stealer in Utah to have this sucker plugged in.

Oh and thanks for all your help DiscoMike! I'm in the learning process, I'll soon be replying to all these threads with my experiences. I also need to figure out how to put the signature on the bottom of my posts so I can brag about my ride... it's actually starting to become something I can claim as my own. I bought it for $2900.00 with lots of problems that I am slowly fixing. I put a old man emu set up on this weekend (heavy duty front and back). Big O BigFoot tires 245/65/16 and I'm going to be doing the hood blackout decal soon. I love this thing!!

Mike, Huh? Are you saying that disconnecting the battery will cause the SRS light to come on?

Yes, it can come thru as a low voltage fault.

Well, I replaced the switch this morning. I disconnected the battery before I started anything. I got the steering wheel out and switch replaced without damaging the spiral ring. Good news is... no SRS light! YAY!!

Here's a question... can I buy little replacement LED's that go in the ignition switch etc. The ones I have are broken.
