AZRover its not that bad, it takes a little time and a cool day because you are stuck inside your beast. The hardest part I had was getting it out the back gate. If I had a second pair of hands would have been much smoother. All in all not that bad. I have not put it in yet, still not sure if Im going to color match. ZG it is awesome and even better in the rattle can. It does not run and covers so smooth and its cheap!

DiscoRover it is smooth like vinyl. I painted it first and was not happy with the finish so I did a little research and found this. Its better than paint yet is paintable. Nice part is it covers (unlike paint) up the not so perfect areas. I put it on thicker in some parts and you cant even tell. When I was done my neighbor came over and asked me if I just upholstered that myself and I showed him my secret...

I've contemplated doing something like this in my Disco, as my headliner was completely removed by a PO. I'm concerned about fumes, though. Did you have to let this air out for a few days before re-installing?

SSL9000J I have yet to reinstall but, after I painted it I let it dry outside for a few hours and brought it into my house and I could smell it but it was not as bad as with the spray paint. I think if you can let it dry and breath a few days it should be fine. If you want step by step instructions for removing hilltoppersx put an amazing picture and instruction thread up for doing this.

When I put my headliner back in I lowered all the windows about an inch each. Left it that way for about 4 days and I didnt have a problem. Left the windows down while driving around which may not be an option this time of year depending on where you live.
This project is definitely worth the time. Less things you ever have to worry about again the better.
