Did you try pressing your unlock button your key? Also move the steering wheel while trying to remove key.

You need to run it through ALL the gears. Hold each one for 10 seconds. "R" count 10, "N" count 10,"D"-"3"-"2"-"1", and then back, counting to 10 on theway back too. Then check the fluid level and make sure that it is full.

thanks...I am confused of the right time to check the fluid level..with a cold tranny, go thru each gear for ten seconds and then check the fluid with it running?...When I originally pulled the fill plug to drain the fluid at least a quart came out, the tranny was cold..

I usually service my tranny when it is cold, drain and fill, start the engine, switch from drive to reverse 2 time, put it back into park and with the engine running top off the tranny.
Sounds like you were checking the level with the engine off. You should use a total of 6 quarts when doing this.

Yes start with a cold trans, go through the gears like I said, this will bring the trans up to temp, then check with the trans in park and the engine running.

Glad all is well, and thank you for posting that it worked. Not enough people post when their problem is resolved.

A little spill will look bigger than it really is. Double check your work, if you need to re-check the fluid level.
