I seriously doubt he's going to spend $1000 on a seal and a nut.
$20, maybe.

Yeah about 22 bucks shipped, unless the flange shaft is grooved. I cannot believe someone would charge $1000 bucks for a box reseal! I don't think I have any further problems with the box, and if it wasn't leaking on the exhaust and burning off (creating bad fumes in car) I wouldn't be extremely worried about it now.

If the flange looks grooved, is this the correct kit?Transfer Box Output Flange Kit Front (Part # STC4379) - Land Rover transfer box from Atlantic British

Also, is there a way to tell if it's grooved before I pull it?

Yeah, that's the kit, but if you've bought the seal and nut you don't need another.
You can't tell if it's grooved without removal.
If you can have it down for a while, if it's grooved then take the flange to a bearing shop, there's a good one on Fulton Industrial, and have them measure it to see if the speedi-sleeve PN I gave you fits. They are about $30 or so.

Thank you. I am going to pull it on Saturday and go from there. Sorry for all of the questions, I am still learning to wrench on cars. I've worked in boats my whole life, but the only part so far gone wrong with the rover is drive train. Go figure

Update:
I decided to hold off on this project until I could also do the front prop shaft. I am looking over the rave right now since I have all the parts finally and have a few questions before I get started.
1. They use a tool to restrain the drive flange. Is this necessary?
2. Will I need to get a special tool to remove the flange?

I think this is all for now, otherwise it looks pretty straight forward.
