Help please !
All of my grounds are fine as shown in the video … I even looked behind them shined lights to see where rust was and it was clean on the inside .. this truck doesn’t make sense . I see why the guy sold it now :/ … if it had blown fuses I don’t think I could crank it and drive around when it wanted to start up . I checked both fuse boxes for corrosion , water damage and each individual fuse for signs of wear … the only other option I see that people did was swap out the interior fuse box who had my exact symptoms but it looks like the guy did that already as well given that it looks fairly new for a 23 year old truck .. it seems like something simple is keeping from turning over but couldn’t be fixed.. the guy was probably fed up from swapping parts and just sold it to the first dummy he could find ( me raising my hand) lol … I agree it sounds like a starter, but it has a new one in already and the wires coming from the battery are cleaned up now . Yea for fun I might get voltimeter of some sort to check wires for a short and watch a couple of videos to help out . Thanks for the advice guys
Diagnose, diagnose, diagnose.
Jump the neutral/park switch. Go under the vehicle with a battery and jumpers and attach to the starter directly... Jump with a wire the keyswitch contacts... check/study the schematic diagram... there is several ways to find the flaw. A 12V light probe is waaaay better than a voltmeter to trace faults.

Ok here’s an update . Before I was on my way to the store earlier I decided to see if I could get it started by screwdriver method . I heard it spin spin and more spin . Left key in on position while all of this was going on . Didn’t turn over but a couple seconds after I tried cranking and bam started right up ? What did I energize to make it crank ? Then turned it off and tried cranking again and nothing .so is this telling me it’s corrosion somewhere in the line that feeds the starter ? I’m new to all of this so any input is better than mine .
Likely some sort of bad connection. You can use jumper cables from battery to starter if need be. Would not hurt to pull the starter and cables and check them end to end. Did you try jumpering the relay socket?
Honestly I had forgot all about that method .. will try tomorrow after I’m off work . Still need to go to the store and buy a 12v probe or volt meter .. so I somehow almost sucked all of the juice out of my battery doing this .. I hooked it up to my car and charged her up again and tried the screw driver method went to try and crank it then verruuum ! Fired up and I let it run for a while to try and charge up the battery . Let it sit for 10 minutes running then cut it off and tried to crank again a couple seconds later and it fired up again . So I drove around in a huge neighborhood for a while to remember why I bought it and fell in love with it lol .. parked it and I’m pretty sure it will click and no start tomorrow morning
… but another thing that’s weird is the air conditioner randomly stopped working one day and then turned it off and cranked it again then it blew hard and nice and cold .. now when I started it today no air ? Maybe a completely different problem but it’s electrical so idk just weird ..

Yeah I’m with you on the bad connection but I’m no mechanic .. especially the electrical diagnostic kind .. I watch a YouTube video for help on repairs for the most part . But this one is usually when I get lost and call it a loss on my part .. really sucks because I like the rover .. drove her in some ditches tonight and it floated over them with ease ;(
Upgrade the Big 3.... One of the easiest and best things I did years ago. When I cut into my starter cable and one of the grounds they both had corrosion all through the wire. I used 1/0 cable and Mil-Spec terminals. Big difference when you turn that key.....POWER, IT'S ALIVE! A simple hydraulic battery lug tool is 30 bucks, 1/0 cable, lugs, terminals and heat shrink. Done. Remy battery is a place I used for the lugs. If not, plenty of places that will custom make some cables online.
I’ll go to slicing later today after work ! Thanks ! I did find it suspicious that the corrosion was further back on the positive cable and then stopped . I sliced in a few more places to see if I seen but it didn’t appear to have anymore . I can try and slice further down today . I’ll report back

was replaced with a Bosch and fired right up . Now I’m running in to another issue . I will make another thread shortly !
