Default Help Please

I am looking to get a 1999 Land Rover Discovery II, just worried right now.
It has 163k, pretty clean inside and out.
It does have a check engine light on.
The power steering pump was replaced back in Nov 07.
And the thermostat is being done this weekend.
It has a clear carfax, and its a second time owner.

She wants 4900 for it. Please help me, what else should i look for.. I am a VW man looking to get something else at a okay price.

Take it to any autoparts store and have them read the check engine light and then tell us what the codes/problem is and we can help you better.

I agree with IRD2. 4900 is way too much for 163 K Miles, personally I would not buy it, there are Discos out there with much lower miles for the same money.

In regards, to getting the thermostat done this weekend, that raises a red flag, is it overheating and they think the thermostat is causing it.

Whomever is doing the job, are they aware of the bleeding process of the cooling system.

my 99 only has 78K miles on it and I doubt I could get $4,900 for it if I tried to sell it right now...I would keep shopping if I were you.

I agree, wait for one that's got lower mileage and no cel on!! There are way too many of these on the market right now to settle for one that's not in a+ condition..

I personally stay away from used lots also.. If you're going to finance, Go to your bank, let them know what you're looking at and they'll pre-approve you for a loan, so when the right truck comes along, you'll be ready to buy, and you can look at vehicles from private sellers, not one that a used lot has picked up at auction....

You'll bemuch happier..
