HG failed - We're selling- What's it really worth?
So you've had the gas sucking D2 for 13 years and paid all that money in gas.
And now that gas is down for the moment - How can you give up and throw in the towel?
Man up man..
You are not a quitter.
Cowboy up.
Take a deep breath. Suck it in. Suck it up.
Start taking the engine apart. Get the head off.
Fix it.
All of about $300 if you scrimp and don't do the heads.
Just replace the gaskets.
You'll lose 40 hours of your life.
But your rover will be saved.
When gas goes above $4 again, then you can think about parting with it.
For now - it is game on.

Jfall is right, you can do it!
If you know someone who has done it before it will cut your time in half.
Use an SAE socket on the head bolts rather than the metric equivalent. Get some little socket angle pieces and extensions at harbor freight, a long bar to go over the ratchet, and a decent torque wrench, plus the Reinz kit. No need to remove the engine. It isn't as hard as it sounds to do this project.

I'm with everyone else, it's not a hard job at all. Just time consuming. The hardest part is getting the head bolts torqued down which just takes a little elbow grease. You've got this!
