Well its not any lower than the step or the hitch was, and I mostly use this for light trails and the beach.

PS, the jack was a requirement to get the OSV permit. So it's more of a technicality ;-)

Do you have the cross bars that go on your roof rails?
If so you can do like I did, bolt it to those.

Mine bolts to the roof rack, but cross bars would be the same difference.
