Hi/low floppy
on our 04 disco2 my son was in the back yard shifting from hi to low messing with the truck.
he came in and said it wouldn’t shift.
i went out and lever is very loose. Almost no resistance. It will still work doing difflock..
i assume broken cable which means center console coming out?
Anything common to check first?

So I think I found the cause. I need some input from someone familiar with the cable setup.
at the shifter the entire cable, sheath and everything is moving back and forth, sonthe cable is not moving independently inside the sheath.
how does the shifter end of the cable attach to the plate? Looks like a circlip etc. anyone know how it attaches?
