I agree with Mike. The 55 watt HIDs are unpleasant for other drivers. My 35 watt bulbs are bright (really bright) but are in-line with other drivers' expectations of what seems acceptable on the road. If you really need more light, I'd go for additional on-demand lighting installed separately.

I've had mine installed since June of 2009 (almost a year) and haven't had any issues. Should be an easy upgrade decision - practical and attractive (like a sexy librarian).

So that is just a plug and play in a DI?

HID headlight kits are illegal.

Mike- are you running HID's in both HI and LO beam?

The links in this thread are old and not working....can people post a link to the HID kits they're running?

I was looking thru an old desk in our garage and found some plastic bodied small aero style add-on light that my son once had on either his hot rodded S10 or his Avenger. I tried them out on an extra car battery I had. They are very whilte, slighty blue tint. Was thinking of adding them for off-road use.

The price is defintely right FREE. Any BTDT stories of does/don'ts.

Also found a four pack of H4 8500K HID Euro Dezigns Xenon Krypton bulbs. Package says DOT approved lifetime guarantee. Anyone familar with these. Are they safe to use for the main headlights? They are still sealed in factory package. Don't know the wattage, not on the package. They are blue in color with the silver tips.

I have them in both my truck and my wifes car and I would not use anything else.

Anyone know if there is a company that makes replacement bulbs with the 35w low beam and 55w high beam? I realize that they may not be legal, but i live out in the mountains where at night time it would be nice to have some brighter lights. There are a lot of critters that walk across the roads that i would not like to hit, ie rabbits, deer, and bears. Currently i just use my brush guard mounted aux lights.
