High Idle Temps....2004 Disco....Thoughts?

Your temps are very close to mine, and I used almost all the same components (a DIY Turner block if you will). I have no idea. My temp range is 194-205. Could be the Kent cam..? I have one of those too.

I've come to peace with it. Better to be +/- 10 degrees than 184-204 in my opinion. Especially with the top hats.

An HD fan clutch is the one thing I want to try in the future. That should help. I'm not very keen on line the inline mod for some reason

Somewhat on topic... Hows your uphill climb (7 degree+)? Does it dog in 2-3rd gear?

I usually run uphill grades in 3rd. It runs great, just 203-206 temp wise. I'm at peace with it too, I guess. I was just curious if others were seeing the same temps as me. Glad to hear I'm not alone. I'm not a fan of the inline thermostat mod either. It seems a lot of people with new long blocks have slightly higher temps. Could be the cam or maybe the friction from tighter tolerances? I'm beginning to think that the factory system bypass is working correctly and the thermostat just doesn't fully open at idle. That would make sense since my driving temps are normal. Who knows...

Interesting.. our setups are very similar (tires, engine) and I can't go above 55mph unless I rev to 4k+rpm in 2nd gear. I need to do a compression check..

Yeah nothing to worry about really for the temps. It's not worth replacing random stuff in the hope things will improve. As long as I'm under 210 at all times (when the ac fan kicks on), I'm generally pretty happy. There's really nothing left to do. If I go on a long freeway downhill I'll get to 190... that's my record!

I dont have a Turner engine but your setup is almost like mine including the Duratrac, roof rack, and I have +300lbs of equipment in the back. Temperature 188-195. Climbing hill or graded highway hits 195 average at 70mph and if I stop immediately, temperature rises even more about 204 and immediately returns to 195 once moving. Steady 85-95mph averages 188-195. If on a stop and hit the gas in P or N, temp goes down about 6 degrees.

Gerry - I like your temps better. I wish mine stayed below 200 on uphill grades.

Update....60 degrees out tonight. Driving temps 195-201. Idle Temps 206-215 with the heat on or off. Heat is hot as hell. When I rev the engine for 30 seconds at idle temps drop to 195-199. Then they go back to 206-210 within a minute. Aux fan comes on at 212. Lower radiator hose is cool after revving awhile and after driving. Is it possible that the oem 180 thermostat is staying in bypass mode , sticking closed at idle rpms? Also, is it possible that it is sticking closed all the time, but the fact that my whole cooling system is new I'm running regular temps while driving? It never overheats at all, just goes to 210-212 at idle. Everything is working as it should in terms of heat, fans, no air in system, no leaks, etc. I'm stumped!!!

Lower hose cold? Thermostat locked up. Got 2 sets of thermostat new that got stuck. Less than 2 months purchased.

Gerry - That's what I'm thinking. It's weird that my driving temps are 195-201 and it never overheats. It just idles warm at 206-212 mostly.

You could take the stat out and see if any holes are clogged etc.

Did you try bleeding it while parked on a steep hill? STEEP.

I notice a difference after I bleed it on a hill, and, I haven't bled it in months...if not a year. When we first bought it, we were bleeding it every month, temps kept rising.
