hit 221 today

Default hit 221 today

There was a long line at atm today,ultra gauge temp hit 221 then back down to 217,put in neutral kicked rpm's up a tad and temps dropped to 197.outside temp 40F.I guess 180 stat change is in my future.

221 is more than a thermo change... I would have a look at your fan clutch. have you noticed any coolant leaks. have you flushed your coolant...

fan clutch feel firm,flush done by last owner a year ago.

That doesn't mean the clutch is good. How many miles on it?

its an 04 with 90k

ummmm.... shouldn't your electric fans have kicked on at 212F? Check that fan (siezed) and the fuse for it (blown because of siezed motor).
