Something that has been around for awhile now is to wrap it with a material similar to the old shelf paper. Adhesive on the back to make it stick and available in different sizes, textures and colors.

Alright now that I'm back home I suppose I'll throw my input out there.

There should be a 3rd option on the poll.

"Yes, and I have roof lights"

Your signature does not mention roof rack lights, if you have them, you need a black-out.

I have done both plasti dip and the proper vinyl way. Really not a question what looks cleaner and lasts longer(vinyl), but you can plasti dip it for $5 or so and see if you like the results. The plasti dip can fall apart and start tearing, but whatever it works!

That's the really nice thing about paint, it's cheap, lasts pretty much forever and is easy to touch up if needed.
If you're in a sunny part of the country, like I am, and expect to leave it for a few years, the vehicle paint will fade so a decal sort of looses the "it's removable" advantage.

If you do the plasti dip, you need to peel up the masking tape immediately or you will peel up the complete plasti dip job. Mask off and paint heavy on the border if the masking first, then peel off tape immediately. Then you can finish in the field away from the edge. There is a video from some guy at plastidip your car .com on you tube.

No I don't have any roof rack lights yet. Not sure if I want to go with 4 singles or one led light bar.

3 options:
Vinyl - I have this works well and cost 79.00 bucks
plastic dip - cheap as hell and does not last long nor looks that great
real paint - I know several that had this done - looks and works the best.

I don't know about real paint "looking" the best. Vinyl is a perfect finish, every time. Lines are perfect and some have UV protection.

in a flat or matte finish it really does ...of course it has to be prepped and applied by someone knowing what they are doing.....not a DIY monkey like me.
