Default Horn Issue With 2003 Discovery II

Hi Everyone:

Recently, the plastic horn button on the right side of my steering wheel fell off it's mount.

Clearly beneath it, is 1) a stamped metal place; 2) a coiled spring, and; 3) what appears to be copper wire fixed to the stamped metal plate.

I have tried to "snap" the plastic cover back on multiple times, but this did not work.

If I touch it slightly, the horn sounds. I'm concerned that if I don't repair it, something may get "lost" or "fall into the steering wheel".

Could someone explain to me how to rectify this, or (worst case scenario)
how to instantly disable the horn?

Thanks so much.

A.Low

A picture might help us a little more than the description

Yeah, I've got the same problem...it seems to be pretty common with the D2's. In fact, it was so common that someone was making replacement buttons and selling them on eBay for a while, but I can't find them out there now. (I'd buy them right now if I could find them...)

Anyway, it looks like Marty Powell has a whole set (horn buttons w/ switches and wires) listed on eBay for $50...LAND ROVER DISCOVERY 2 HORN BUTTONS W. SWITCH AND WIRES | eBay

I wonder if LRD2&ME could mold us some new buttons.

I have fiddled with this as well. The process I use is as follows:

Put the stamped metal piece into the button with the extruded circle portion towards the steering wheel, place the spring over the extruded metal circle, carefully snap everything back together, never touch it again.
