Question How are '03-'04 heated seat switches different?

Hello all, just finished installing the new transmission and new drive shaft on the Rover after the big u joint fiasco. I'll be honest, it was work, but now she's running smooth again, and for much less $ than if we had taken it somewhere.

I saw on the forums that I could install the heated seat switches, as it's already wired for them. However, some posts said the 2003-04 years take a different switch, or are somehow different. Is this true?

Ours is a 2003 Discovery II SE, date on the door sticker is 06/03. Can anyone point out the difference compared to the general Disco II heated seat kits I see for sale out there, or are the posts I was reading misguided? Most of the kits say from '99-04, but obviously that can't be right if the switches are different on the '03-'04 models.
Thanks for help clearing this up before I purchase a kit!
Jed

Sounds misguided to me. Also, test and see if you've actually got them. Take one of your switches from the dash (hill decent control, emergency flashers) or even your window lock button. They are the same button and should make the seats work just to test.

The difference is color only. The '99-'02 switches are a little lighter in color (smoke grey, maybe?) while the '03-'04 "facelift" versions are closer to a pure black. No difference in fit or function. This applies to many if not all of the similar interior plastics, not just the heated seat switches. I have heated seat switches from an '04 in my '99. The color difference is noticeable but not alarming, but I DON'T CARE!!! It's a 16-year old truck!

And by the way, heated seat switches are pretty commonly available from salvage yard trucks or any of the several dismantlers active on this forum. There is no reason to pay retail for a heated seats switch "kit." I got mine for maybe $5-$10 from a salvage yard truck.

Thanks to you both! That explains the "difference" the posts and one of the websites were mentioning - glad to see it's just the color, and that I wasn't missing anything.
Appreciate the tip for a used one, so I'll look around on Ebay or something for that route.

On a good note, she's running great again after the new trans and front shaft install!

Reach out to Paul Grant. He parts out rovers and probably has them used. I needed a window switch. Hell of a lot cheaper from him than new
