Default How to clean minor rust by Windshield Finisher?

I’ve got some minor rusting due to my windshield finisher coming off. I’m about to get the left and right A pillars, windshield and D pillars replaced with a new finisher.

Before I do that I think I need to get the rust taken care off. I got a quote for 2800 which seems extreme, and is a lot more than I’d like to pay. Is there anything I can do myself? Most of this would be covered up by the finisher anyway, I just want it taken care of as a preventative measure so it wouldn’t get worse.

I think the best approach would be to tackle this when the windshield is out. You may find more rust behind there. As far as how, it depends on your goal. If it's just to remove the rust and protect the area from future corrosion I would tape the area to prevent damage to any paint you don't want scuffed up and then sand it down with a power tool like a dremel. Then prime and paint with the product of your choice.

I'm sure I'll regret these words if I ever roll the Disco, but I really wish the roof was aluminum for this reason.

I have had good luck using Loctite Extend Rust Neutralizer. It needs a little rust to work, so just use wire brush, clean with air, then daub on with a foam brush. It turns the rust black. Use two coats, then a coat of paint, or use three coats without painting. I used a lot in my wheel wells/floor boards.
