I really just wanted to make sure there was no Rover Voodoo involved like the plug wire issue. Just making sure the bumper and passenger seat didn't have to be removed to swap out the diff.

Personally, I would be cautious buying a used diff; you really don't know what you might be getting. You can buy a re-manufactured diff from Toddco for $299. I changed my front without any issues; just take your time. The front is a little trickier than the back since you have to drop the drag-ling to get the diff out.

Thanks for the help and replies. I will see what I can find. 300 bucks from Toddco at worst sounds pretty good at this point.

What would be the benefit of this?

Discovery Series II Transfer Case CDL Kit
Convert your non locking Discovery II transfer case to a locking differential with this kit. The kit is a complete bolt in kit, can be installed without removing the transfer case from the vehicle. This kit comes with a $75.00 core charge.

I don't know which kit that is in particular but from what I have read on this forum the CDL kits only work on the 1999-2001 disco II's. So I think you are out of luck since you own a 2003. Hopefully someone else with more knowledge will comment.

actually on a disco two, you just leave the hubs on the axles and pull them out as an assembly, if its not too rusted up you be able to break the seal without taking the rotor off but if its rusted on, time for new rotors anyway.

The rotors are new. What exactly does a locking transfer case do as opposed to the stock 03 Disco
