Has this issue been going on for a while, or just recently (like within a tank of fuel)? Could be a bad tank of fuel, had that happen on my 01...you'd have thought l bought water. Took about two tanks to finally clear it out totally. My rule of thumb anymore is...give it a couple tanks of gas...before jumping into the issue (if minor).

Yes, blowing a tranny on the way to work just isn't what it once was...

I apologize for being off topic but I thought the spark gaps forour Discos should be .038" to .042"?

I don’t think you’re off base here in the slightest. However, consistently one and only 1 cylinder leads me to believe it’s not the fuel as I started to think- unless there is a clog. The next tank or so I’ll run high test and another can or so of Seafoam and go from there. Tom said not to take it for my trip to pick up the bike, so I’ll have to drive the Jeep for a bit. The wires are new I think from when I got it, and I’ll certainly test out the resistance, but I’m going to go ahead and do plugs and coils at a minimum as I don’t know when the coils were done last so it won’t be a waste. I’ll probably get injector O Rings as well and might do those while I’m in there.

You’re not even close to being off topic, as that is what the topic has become!

Anyway, I read similar, but that larger gaps were good for a better spark for more complete combustion. Bottom line, even if the spec is what you mentioned (which I think is correct) the offending cylinder isn’t far enough out of spec I don’t think as to cause the issue.

The best news is that I don’t have a catastrophic issue, or something that requires me to tear into the motor. So I’ll throw a few parts at it that are good peace of mind and not a waste no matter what, and I’ve already got a set of O2 sensors to put in as well and go from there. The Disco is a toy for me despite being my daily, and as long as I don’t have to find the time to throw another motor in it, I’m really not worried about it- just bummed I don’t get to take it for my trip today...
