On my '03, it says Harmon/Kardon on the front door panel speakers. Or you could remove the rear subwoofer and look at the sticker on the subwoofer box to see if it's a H/K unit.

To my knowledge, yes. That is IF your car was optioned with the CD changer. I am unaware of the base S (SD on the pre '03 Disco IIs) model even being available with the premium stereo package. Both the SE and HSE had subwoofers in the rear tailgate door, whether they were standard or premium sound systems.

My '03 Disco S Model had neither. It was the HK system, atleast before I went through and replaced everything down to the speaker wire.

I don't think the 2001 had a stereo that was branded as Harmon Kardon, it was just listed as the "Premium Stereo" for that year. I know that the speakers were branded as Phillips.

If you haven't read this post yet, it has a lot of good info in it.

I have read that before.

I'm just trying to figure out if I have premium system or normal as the aftermarket wire harness for either has different part numbers.

Does the standard system have the "Spacial" option on the head unit? (That was not a misspelling of special)

Ok took my stock alpine head unit out. On the back there is three plugs. Bottom two rows connect to the metra harness, is the top row of two smaller plugs for steering wheel control? I'm not trying to keep the controls so if I run the bottom two plugs of factory harness I'll be good??
