Yeah, that's not a shifter that can engage the CDL. You can see that the diagram on the **** shows just H-N-L. Of course it could have the wrong ****. More tell-tale to me is the position of the shifter lever in the middle of the opening, left-to-right. As I wrote before, my '04 shifter sits far to the right when the CDL is not engaged. I don't know about shifter positioning in trucks that had a DI shifter retrofitted but is suspect the same would be true. It's peculiar that you have the CDL sticker and not the CDL.

But speaking of shifters, look at that manual trans shifter! Judging from that and the clock position this is not a U.S. truck. Where are you?

You should be able to enter your VIN into a checker utility online to identify the year and options on your truck.
I have a retrofit D1 shifter in my truck. The "normal" unlocked, high-range position is to the lower right just as in a factory 2004 model. The position of yours looks like it's right in the middle.

Has no one actually said that you can crawl underneath and reach up in to see if you have the CDL nipple and linkage that connects them? If you have it you can also manually shift it from underneath.

The hi/low shifter looks to be towards the right side of the bezel/boot. I'd bet either it has it and the **** wasn't changed or someone wanted to sell it for more by tossing a sticker in it.

Look for this on your transfer case... Easy to climb under and take a pic with your phone...

If it had CDL the lever setup on an 04 CDL mechanism sits to the right more when not engaged. With CDL engaged the lever sits more towards the middle.
You should be able to reach up and feel the nipple or use a mirror like mentioned above to see if you in fact have the CDL nipple on your transfer case.

Thanks to cfairless for posting the pic of the t-case front housing showing the famous CDL nipple, but it may be disorienting to the OP and others. Here's a link to the legendary Josh Salas's writeup about adding CDL to DIIs that don't have it, both those that need only the linkage to activate what's there already and those whose trucks don't already have the right t-case parts. It includes a good picture of the all-important nipple.

Josh was deployed for a while and after he returned he moved all his great content (yes, including the famous Option B guidance) to another host. If you've used his material or even if you just admire it please consider a donation to keep the material up and available for all of us. Josh's contributions to this and other DII forums are very important and keeping them available to all of us is worthwhile. Click on LAND ROVER CLUB V.I. at the top of the linked page and then scroll down for more information about how to donate.
