I've hit a setback snag Alex, manifold boost pressure I should have seen that one (amateur I hear everyone say) but I think I've got an answer .......................... maybe. I'll let you know how it works out otherwise hide somewhere with embarrassment

 

I went through a phase when I was so active in the forum, I had to get away and do some remunerative work! Well, that's under control tool so here I am again. Just before I left last time I ordered an AEM dry filter that matched the specs of the one Alex is using andand, after three weeks it finally arrived on Saturday. Before I take everything apart to see if it will work, has there been any major evolution in the design?

None other than Jesse's heat shield which will make no difference in the design of the intake itself.

 

This is a great write-up and performance mod, but any sort of water crossing, mud or dirt are completely out of the question with this in your engine bay.

 

I've actually not had any trouble with shallow water crossing (just touching the frame, no higher) or mud. I will be extending this to run out the quarter panel, up to the windshield, then up much like an actual snorkel. I first need to make some kind of hood for the filter itself since it will just be sitting on top of the snorkel, but once I get a rain hood and add a drycharger made up it should be no issue. As for the dirt, well, it does let more through no doubt. It will increase piston ring and cylinder wear somewhat, but the minimal change in contaminants entering the engine is something I'm fine with personally.

 

The AEM 10009 does not fit. I'm going to make it fit. But it is about 1/4 inch too big for the MAF. (AS ALEX SAID!)
