I posted this question on my last thread but so far no response. My right front sensor went bad. I bought the sensor and LR is recommending that with the new sensor that I bypass the plug on the wheelwell and wire directly to the SLABS ECU. I finally wrestled with the Slabs unit behind the glovebox and got the plug out for the front sensor. I slid the plastic piece out of the side of the plug and tried like crazy to remove the two connectors in the plug using a pin to help get the connector out. After about an hour of trying to get them out I decided to cut the wires leaving about 5" to connect to. I soldered the wires to the pigtails and now I am getting a Low output reading instead of the Bad output I got with the old sensor. If someone could please tell me what the trick is to removing those connectors from the plug I will wire directly to the plug because for some reason the system does not like a soldered connection. I guess it is somehow affecting the sinewave from the sensor with the soldered connection. I'm hoping maybe DiscoMike may know how to manipulate those connectors out of the plug. PLEASE HELP GUYS!! I just want to be done working on this system.

 

Yes the solder joint will affect the ohms coming from the ABS sensor.
No I do not know how to do what you are asking.

 

Yea I was thinking that same thing after I got that low output reading. First thought was"you dummy you just affected the sinewave with that solder. I know it is something simple to get those connectors out because when you put new ones in they just snap in place and the the plastic guard slides in through the side and snaps in. But for the life of me I could not get those connectors out. Thanks for the reply anyway Spike, at least you confirmed my suspicion.

 

I do remember having the same frustration when installing OEM driving lights because I had to remove a few pins from under hood connectors and replace them with different wires. I tried tiny screwdrivers, straight pins, paper clips, etc. Nothing seemed to work, until I tried the opposite end of the connector, then I had no problems.

Unfortunately, this was done several years ago, and I don't remember which worked. Bottom line is, if you're trying to unclip the pin from the front of the connector, try unclipping it from the back, or vise versa.

 

Hi did you ever work out how to remove the connectors from the plastic block slabs ecu having the same problem with same wheel as well spent ages trying to no avail

As lordmorpheus said (about 8½ years ago), remove the wires/pins from the rear of the connector, not the front. If you look carefully from the side where the wires enter, you should be able to see a way to release the pin. A small metal pick worked for me. You may be able to use a toothpick in a pinch. I've done this with an airbag system connector, not a SLABS connector, but the design should be similar.
