Default How to remove D2 coolant tank

I have a 2000 D2, original owner.

I want to bleed the coolant system. This requires raising the coolant tank.

I’ve seen YouTube videos where the tank seems to come right out. Mine seems wedged in tight.

Can anyone recommend a thread or other resource explaining/showing clearly and in detail how to do this? The search function has not been my friend today.

I assume you have the factory plastic type coolant tank. Here is a pic that I marked up to help explain.

The blue part hooks into a metal slotted bracket. This becomes the pivot point when you try and remove it.

Put your hand on the green part. Then try and yank it using the blue part as the pivot. Hope this makes sense.

I suggest that you check and see there are no harnesses in the way (e.g., the engine bay fuse box is right next to it). Good luck!

P/S. I struggled too when I was a Disco newbie. Took a couple of times before it became second nature to me

Read the inline thermostat thread at the top of the forum, never worry about bleeding again, among other benefits.

Ok, that was very helpful. Thank you! I had not realized that the tank snaps on at the back end (where your green mark is), and that’s why a yank is necessary to set it from so that it can then pivot at the front end.
