Huge thanks to the forum
Big thank you to jrsherfy and PatrickHenryPDX for their explanations on reading and clearing D1 ABS codes without using a code reader. The only specialist tool I required was a paper clip!
The first poster mentioned a link to another forum and had done this job on his 95. This got me started on the right track but there were some inconsistencies for my 98 Disco. Namely the 95 owner used a blue ABS 4 pin connector to read the codes. I couldn't find it and then found the later post that a 97 owner had done it through the OBD II scanner port by jumping 2 pins with a paper clip and following the rest of the procedure of counting the "blinks" of the ABS warning light.
I just did it and it's soooo easy. to me this is a fine example of what this forum represents, the more knowledgable helping the dimwits like me lol.
Seriously, thank you guys!
Alan
