Default HVAC blower speed

My blower seems to have only one speed, full blast. If you adjust the speed manually through the dash controls it, any other setting but max results in nothing. When set to max it spins so fast it shakes the dash and is pretty loud. My first guess at the issue was the fan resistor but before I go throwing parts at it I wanted to see if there were any other possibilities first. Thanks!

Power transistor. It takes commands to make the variable speeds. Little box near fan under dash. See attached from RAVE.

I agree with Savannah. I had the same problem and replaced the resistor last weekend it now works. I bought mine used off of ebay.

Awesome, i'll give that a try. I emailed paul grant to see if he had one. If not i'll see if rovers north has one new and not crazy expensive as I can just drive over and grab it if need be.

I guess these trucks use real logic in determining speed instead of a huge vented resistor.

Alright before I go and tackle this I want to make sure theres not an easier way first. The rave says to remove the entire fascia to get to the blower motor (where this transistor is mounted) which involves taking off the steering wheel and all kinds of silly things. Is there an easier way to get to it or do I have to disassemble my entire interior to replace this thing?

IIRC, once you take the glove box door off, the resistor pack is right there. 4 screws and unplug it. (been a while though and my memory gets worse every year).
