Default I cant get my Rover to go into 4low....

I have a 01 Disco 2 with 125k on it. I bought it 6 months ago, and when I first bought it, I was able to shift it in and out of 4low. Now, there have been several occasions where I have needed 4low and it will not shift into it. I've tried it in N and in P, with and without parking brake on. It will not move at all, not even into neutral position. Almost feels like the linkage is jammed up. Any ideas???

On my D1 I was able to take some minor stuff apart on top of the shift console (the shift boot), and push a small straw nozzle down the path the high/low shift lever takes. A large quantity of PB Blaster was applied and it shifts much smoother. I would expect that SeaFoam Deep Creep would also work. The rod operates several "widgets" that accumulate rust from lack of use.

Good points Savannah.

I will sometimes have to let my truck roll forward or reverse a little before the t-case will allow me to shift into neutral.

It could be the lock solenoid, those have a habit of failing at inopportune times.

All thoughts are great! Basically it could be a few different reasons behind this and the best way would be to dismantle the console so you can see what us going on as you try to shift.

My money is on the lock solenoid located on the t/case, depending on the year. You can either remove or replace it, either from the top thru the console area or from under the truck. Enclosed is a picture of a t/case, the plate with 4 bolts and a round cylinder is the cover to access it.
