Think about it, what would be the ultimate end of the world survival vehicle?
A DI with no electrics, nothing to keep it from running, hell, if you installed a mechanical fuel pump there would be no stopping you.
Gears dont go bad, cap and rotor can be cleaned and used again in a emergency, mechanical fuel pumps last forever, spark plugs you could pull out of almost any "dead" car or truck, air filter...its the end of the world, throw it away.
A DI, a rifle, Bowie knife and a axe and you could live a long time on your own.

congrats on the install, if it "works" for you thats all that matters.........
Its catch 22 imo, the fuel injection systems a inherently more reliable than carbs and offer superior fuel effeciency overall, but are more of a pain to trouble shoot I agree......but less likely to go wrong imo tho...
Diesels offer simplicity as well..............(oops did I mention diesels again!! )
