I have the oil pan off, do I have to replace cruciform seals?
I thought I had an extra set of new ones but for the life of me can’t find them. I don’t know if they’re leaking or not, and I’m sort of wanting to just wrap this project up instead of waiting another week for new seals… Is it just assumed that they’re always needing replacement if they oil pan gasket is being replaced? The pan gasket was leaking so badly, I have no idea if the cruciforms were or not.

I can say I have successfully replaced the cruciform seals with the engine in the truck - when I replaced the main and rod bearings - big job. I did get the full cross seals from Rimmer Bros. She's been relatively dry since (a couple of years ago). Additionally, I just installed new cruciform seals in my new short block - much easier on an engine stand...

Not required and unless it was a known leak I would not touch them. The rear main CANNOT leak, I did a post on why. I have two engines recently pulled were the rear cam plug was leaking. Since it is directly over the crank you can imagine it looks just like a rear main or crucifix seal leak. If it was me and leak free was important I would do it, but the probability it is the crucifix seal leaking is less than 50%.
