Default I hear a small electric motor spooling up under somewhere under my dash sometimes

Every once in a while, I hear a small electric motor spooling up then coasting back down , from somewhere under my dash area. It sounds somethning like a windsheild washer motor. I'm guessing it might be a small fan pulling cabin air past an interior temp sensor for the climate control (Mercedes has used these in the past). It only lasts about 5 seconds each time I hear it.

Can anyone tell me what I'm hearing?

See page 1226 of 1529 in the RAVE shop manual. The small motor is the in-car temp sensor fan. Behind little slats in the dash. Suck out dust with shop vac.

The SAI fan is usually louder, near glove box, but actually under the hood on that side.
